Title: Business Coordinator


Mandarin Seeds, a Mandarin Chinese language center​ specializing in Mandarin education for early childhood, is seeking a business coordinator for our office in TriBeCa. Reporting to the director, the business coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our office facilities and equipment, as well as assuming responsibilities for human resources functions and managing business finance, marketing communications, and events.


This position is ideal for an administrative professional with 3-5 years of experience in an educational organization, who can wear multiple hats, is exceedingly well-organized and flexible, and enjoys the administrative challenges of supporting a small but busy and growing office.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Manage smooth operation and maintenance of offices, library, and teaching facilities
  • Manage customer relations, facilitates communication between parents/families and teaching staff

  • Manage external relations with building/owner management, vendors

  • Supervise administrative support staff

  • Ensure impeccable front office management

Business Development

  • Manage marketing and promotional efforts to increase enrollment, including production of marketing materials
  • Oversee update and maintenance of company website

  • Manage planning and execution of events (e.g. annual Chinese New Year celebration)

  • Oversee strategic and business partnership


Human Resources and Finance

  • Administer HR related tasks such as benefits, employment policy and guidelines, company orientation and onboarding/exiting procedures
  • Manage vendor platforms/services for payroll, benefits, compliance

  • Manage business finances including AP/AR, operational expenses/budget; act as liaison with accountant/bookkeeper


Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • Elementary level fluency in conversational Mandarin Chinese

  • Bachelor’s degree, with least 3-5 years of business administration experience in an educational organization, or related experience

  • Knowledge of and facility with business software (Gmail, Google calendar, doc, sheets, drive), website maintenance/update (WIX), office equipment (telephone, printer/copier, WiFi router)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excel in organization, multitasking, and problem-solving

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact

  • People oriented and results driven

  • Enthusiastic team player


Additional Qualifications Preferred:

  • Experience in human resources functions such as administration of benefits, compensation, and other programs

  • Passion for early education and knowledge of the field and industry of educational supplement programs in New York City
