Class Description
The age range specified for each class is only a rough guideline and every child is different. If you are uncertain about which class to enroll your child, please contact us for a free consultation. Each class is also different depending on the makeup of the students and we will recommend the right class for your child based on her/his background.
Mommy & Me Classes (55 minutes)
Learn Mandarin and music at the same time! All our mommy & me teachers are Mandarin speakers who are professional music teachers with music education background . Young children just love music and it is an excellent medium to expose new sounds and words of a new language to a child. All mommy & me classes require participation of the caretakers with the children in the classroom.
Seeds Babies (6 months to 18 months) 芽芽小班
This class is for babies sitting on laps, crawlers, and early walkers. It is run like a Mandarin music class and the approach is very gentle. Children in this age group learn best by 100% immersion approach. All the songs will be sung with age-appropriate movement. We sign warm up songs with body movement and props. We use our in-house big poster books with interactive pictures to introduce a theme subject (body parts, transportation...etc). There is also a story book time. The grownups are highly encouraged to participate together with the children because they will model the participation of their grownups! Whether the children are new to the language or bilingual, they will absorb Mandarin naturally through songs, story telling and play. No prior exposure of Mandarin is required for this class and the class is suitable for bilingual and non-bilingual children.
Seeds Tots (18 months to 3 years) 芽芽中班
Children in this age group are now active walkers and toddlers who are constantly on the move, as well as young preschoolers. Children in this age group learn best by 100% immersion approach. All the songs will be sung with age-appropriate movement. The grownups are highly encouraged to participate together with the children because they will model the participation of their grownups. In addition to all the things we do with the babies, we also do an arts & craft project related to the theme topic. Whether the children are new to the language or bilingual, they will absorb Mandarin naturally through songs, story telling and play. No prior exposure of Mandarin is required for this class and the class is suitable for bilingual and non-bilingual children.
Seeds 2y-4y (Age 2 to 4 years) 芽芽大班
This class is for preschoolers who are now used to school settings and learning fast. The children can be in class with or without their grownups, depending on whether they are ready for separation. Each topic will be discussed in more details. The teacher will focus on more vocabulary building during our poster book time and story book time. An art project is also included to reinforce the topic. No prior exposure of Mandarin is required for this class.
Seeds Mixed (Mixed Age) 芽芽合班
This class is perfect for parents who want the siblings to be in the same class. Caregivers are encouraged to participate together with the children. There are advantages of a mixed age class where the older children and young children learn from each other. Our teacher will pay extra attention to the age gaps and make certain that everyone gets their share of attention. The older children will get to practice and repeat vocabulary through questions and answers, while younger ones will naturally follow the examples of the older children.

After School (Drop Off)
All the after school classes are drop off. But the caretakers must stay on premise and wait outside the classroom while the class is in session.
Sprouts 5y-7y (Age 5 to 7 years) 芽芽高班
This class is for children who are in Kindergarten and lower elementary. We incorporate the Better Chinese textbooks (My First Chinese Words) and focus on teaching complete sentences for communication in daily life situations. The class will do role play, exercise worksheets and practice writing Chinese characters in class. For parents who want to reinforce the materials learned at home, there is corresponding online learning tool with animated videos for each book. Online learning is optional and the parents can subscribe to the Better Chinese Online Learning, which will correspond to what we learn in class. It is an excellent way for parents to help the children learn at home. Acquiring a language takes practice! Prior exposure to Mandarin is helpful but not necessary. The teacher will work with different learning levels of students.
Immersion 5y-7y (Age 5 to 7 years) 芽芽創意班, 90 minutes
Registration for this class is subject to approval. This is an 90 minutes class for children who can already communicate in Mandarin. 100% Mandarin will be used to teach this class. The teacher will use a wide range of theme topics and story books to teach complex sentence structure and sophisticated vocabulary. We play games and do role play for story books. There is also a drama section where the children will act out a fairy tale play. We will also introduce Chinese characters (Traditional Chinese) weekly and the children will practice writing chinese characters during class.
BPMF Grade 1 (Age 5 to 7 years) 國語小學一班
Prior approval is required before registration for this class. 100% Mandarin will be used to teach this class. This class teaches Traditional Chinese with bopomofo phonetic system. We use textbooks used in Taiwan’s elementary school. There will be weekly homework.
Reader1 Elementary (Age 7+) 小学简体班一 (To be opened in Fall 2012)
This class is designed for elementary school students who have begun to learn reading and writing. We use the Better Chinese textbook “My First Chinese Reader Volume 1” in Pinyin and Simplified Chinese. The spiral-up approach allows students to review past lessons as they advance through the volumes in the series. Please visit Better Chinese to read more about their curriculum materials. Prior exposure of Mandarin is helpful, but not necessary. The teacher will work with different learning levels of students.

PGT (Private Group Tutoring) Home Classes
Our PGT classes are hosted at homes with flexibility in schedule. The PGT classes are the same as our regular classes except the setting is at home. You can register a PGT home class just like our regular other classes on our Register page. However, registration for PGT home class is subject to approval by the host family. You can create any PGT classes you like. For example, you can create a PGT Babies class, a PGT 3y-5y class, or a PGT Immersion class. Or you can create a very specific age range class, such as PGT 5y-8y for a group of 5 to 8 year olds. Tuition for a PGT class is also the same as a regular class at $35 per class.
